Mr. Nice, Mr. Nasty
Article Abstract:
Many Thai people have lost their faith in the government because of high levels of corruption, according to former prime minister Chuan Leekpai. He has a reputation for being an extremely tough politician and is likely to take very firm action against corruption if his Democrat Party comes to power following the Nov 17, 1996 general election. A poll of voters indicates strong support for him, but it remains unclear whether his party will actually win the election.
