Article Abstract:
Loblaw Companies Ltd. started a five-year plan in 2006 to in an effort to revive the company. Galen Weston Jr., Loblaw's executive chairman, is leading the campaign by appearing in television advertisements. His first advertisement was about the use of PC cloth shopping bag as a way to reduce the number of plastic bags going into landfills. According to Loblaw, the products featured in their advertisements are selling well.

Carrying a tune: Starbucks and HMV use different songbooks to sing to the elusive music consumer

Starbucks entered a deal with Apple that allows Starbucks' customers to download music from iTunes if they are within the vicinity of the coffeshop. HMV Canada's CD sales have grown 15 percent annually since 2003 but their sales that come from items other than CDs are expected to grow to 50 percent in 2007 from 47 percent in 2006.
