Lombard opts for life in the fast life
Article Abstract:
UK insurer Lombard Insurance has emerged even stronger and healthier in spite of the radical changes it experienced in the 20 months to Feb. 1995. During this time, Lombard was the subject of a management buyout and a stock market flotation, and also bought Groupama, France's biggest mutual insurer. Lombard Insurance was formed from the May 1993 management buyout of Lombard Continental Insurance, the UK arm of the US' Continental Corp. By summer 1993, the improved outlook for the UK insurance sector led the management team to consider an early flotation, which was announced in Mar. 1994.
