Loss adjustment
Article Abstract:
Men who assume that hair loss damages their image of success may have to face the bald truth about balding. About 5% of 20-year old men will have began losing their hair while 80% of 70-year olds have already shed most of it. Since hair loss is hereditary, it can not be prevented. Therefore, balding men are left with no other option but to hide depletion of hair. This can be achieved with the aid of toupees or added thatch woven into the natural hair. Hair transplanting and heat-bonding of synthetic monofibres to thinning hair, although common, are not entirely effective cover-up techniques and may even produce side effects. So far, only two hair restorers have been acknowledged by the scientific community. They are the drug minoxidol, released in the market as Regaine, and Triphasic. Men seeking treatment for their shrinking hair must avoid scoundrels who exploit their insecurity.

The 'side-effects' trap
Article Abstract:
Opinion polls carried out on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry typically ask respondents for their opinions on the industry as a whole, which restricts the pollster and the respondent to considerations of a monolithic pharmaceutical 'industry'. In reality, pharmaceutical companies come from a variety of origins, including dye-makers, patent medicine manufacturers, inventors, and chemical companies. Pharmaceutical companies have diverse structures and run the gamut from firms with large research departments to those companies that simply market drugs produced by other firms. The companies do not act in concert as the tag 'industry' implies but are quite competitive. The focus on the pharmaceutical 'industry' and questions about the 'side-effects of drugs', which generally is not the focus of doctors, indicate that opinion polling in the health industry has some limitations.
