Lost in cyberspace
Article Abstract:
Most pioneers who developed the internet have not become famous, unlike many recent internet entrepreneurs. Many pioneers were academics without links to the commercial world, and others were idealists who wanted to encourage social change rather than become rich. There are also people too wierd or individualistic to seek riches, and those whose ideas were too advanced for them to make money. Internet pioneers based in Silicon Valley have also had more chance of finding backers than those located elsewhere.
