MODI TELSTRA SIGNS DEAL WITH PHILIPS TO SOURCE HANDSETS

Modi Telstra Limited (MTL), a cellular phone service provider, is planning a new offer to increase its market. It has signed a deal with Philips Consumer Communications (PCC) for buying 12,000 Diga brand mobile sets annually from PCC. MTL will offer these phones to its customers at a price of Rs6,000 and subsequently refund the money in terms of air-time discount in the next 12 months. Air-time constitutes two-thirds of a cellular phone bill. The cost of handsets in the regular markets is around Rs10,000 to Rs15,000 per unit. (um)

VYSYA BANK, HMA DATA SYS IN TALKS FOR ONLINE DEBITING SYSTEM
Article Abstract:
Vysya Bank is negotiating with HMA Data Systems Pvt Ltd for setting up online debit infrastructure software for banking. The bank plans to install the software in four of its branches first and in another six branches on a national level by June 1999. Installing the software will enable the bank to introduce any branch banking. (khr)
