VSNL, MTNL SIGN DEAL; BUT NO SWAP
Article Abstract:
The Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) and the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). These 2 telecommunication companies have refrained from exchanging their equities as the Government of India feels that cross-holding of shares would not serve any purpose. As per the deal, both the firms will be jointly exploring business opportunities in India and abroad. They would pool their resources of all kinds to further their interests. (ag/kvr)
