Maclean's rethinks its positioning

Maclean's, a 95-year-old publishing institution in Canada has hired Vancouver, British Columbia-based advertising agency, Rethink, to help the newsmagazine on its positioning. Publisher Paul Jones disclosed that any repositioning or change the magazine will implemenent is likely to be incremental than sweeping. He believes that readers are prepared to accept changes provided the values of Canadian-ness are maintained and provided that the pace is gradual.

Sleeman tries CanWest bundle

CanWest Global Communications' new Integrated Business Solutions Team has been awarded a contract by Sleeman Brewing and Maltint to develop a contest promotion for the Guelph, Ontario-based craft brewer that will make its debut in late May 2001. The promotion will span all of CanWest's media platforms, which include the Global Television Network, a 50% interest in the National Post and a variety of Internet sites.
