Madagascar, still reeling after the cyclones
Article Abstract:
Madagascar has been hit by cyclones and flooding, and nearly all the rice crop has been destroyed in some areas, leading to hunger. Wells have also been polluted, leaving people without clean water. Many villages are isolated by mud slides, so it is difficult to ensure that aid reaches them. The economy had been recovering, but forecasts will have to be adjusted downwards. Nature reserves have not been badly affected, so the tourist trade may no be very badly hit.
