Making tracks
Article Abstract:
The Hong Kong government bought stocks in 1998 during the Asian financial crisis, and is to sell those stocks with the blessing of financiers who had initially criticized the move. The stock market has recovered since the purchases were made. The government plans to use a mutual fund as one way of selling the stocks. The stocks in this mutual fund will be traded. This is one idea that the government has proposed for selling the stocks, and interest could be increased in pooled investments as a result of the plan.
