Malaysia will soon commence carving a high-tech capital out of the palms

Malaysia has laid out plans to build a $8.06 billion administrative capital in Perang Besar. The city, which will be called Putrajaya, will become the country's center of government by the year 2000. The site will house offices for the prime minister, finance, federal courts and several government agencies. Prime Min. Mahathir Mohamad said that the future administrative capital will decongest Kuala Lumpur and foster urban development.

Indonesia to offer shares in lean, improved Tima
Article Abstract:
PT Tambang Timah will be the next Indonesian state enterprise to be privatized via a public stock offering (IPO). The tin company has just finished a corporate reorganization which has left it leaner and more profitable. Timah will float at least 20% of its equity, an offer which could raise more than $200 million. The IPO will be second only to the planned public issue of state-owned PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia.

Malaysian court's ruling may end shareholder's battle for control of KFC
Article Abstract:
Malaysia's Court of Appeals threw out an injunction which stopped KFC Holdings Bhd. shareholders led by Ishak Ismail to remove the Lau family from the board. The Laus control 30% of KFC Holdings stock. They have been fighting Ishak's group over control of the business. KFC International has supported Ishak and his allies and has accused the Laus in management interference.
