Management by computer
Article Abstract:
Ryder Ground Fleet Services (GFS) has turned to an asset-management software from US-based Project Software and Development Inc to manage British Airways' fleet of 3,600 ground support equipment at London Heathrow and Gatwick airports. The software, called Maximo, runs on scaleable database server platforms from PCs to UNIX processors. The system works with SQL databases such as Oracle 8 within a Mirosoft Windows environment. It affords users a minute by minute view of service levels and vehicle availability, said Ryder GFS general manager Peter Harte.
