M&M HIVING OFF MSL DIVISION
Article Abstract:
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has decided to hive off its ash handling systems unit (MSL wing) into a separate company. It has also decided to cut down its investment in Mahindra Ford India Ltd's equity to Rs135 crore. The company will concentrate more on its future project Scorpio and will launch these new vehicles by 2000 AD. Its automotive wing has sold 9,804 vehicles during first two months of 1998-99 (10,513 vehicles during same period in 1997-98). It has sold 11,980 tractors during the period (12,319 tractors). (gs)

CONTAINER TARIFFS UP FOR INDIAN EXPORTERS DUE TO SE ASIAN DEMAND

Indian exporters are paying higher tariffs for the shipping liners following an increase in demand from the South-East Asian countries and South Korea. The tariffs have been increasing steadily despite a volatility in the Baltic Freight Index. The rise has been due to the efforts of the South-East Asian nations and South Korea to raise their exports to overcome their financial crisis. (ag)
