Marching to a new beat
Article Abstract:
Wahaha Food Group has embarked on an innovative personnel management strategy in improving worker production at its newly acquired Hangzhou Cannery. The former state-owned firm has been acquired by the Hangzhou-based company and is now producing Wahaha products to meet increasing domestic demand. Top management has resorted to production quotas, premiums and substantial participatory management practices as a way to encourage cannery workers and staffers at Wahaha's headquarters to work harder at attaining company objectives.

Miracle Man
Article Abstract:
P. Ramar Pillai, 34-year-old Indian amateur scientist, has attracted a lot of attention and admiration after claiming that he can produce petrol from boiled leaves. There is speculation that the invention is a fabrication, which could result in him being prosecuted for fraud. If it is genuine, it will have an enormous effect on the energy industry. Ramar refuses to give details until his process has been patented. Scientists want to carry out the process under laboratory conditions.
