Mastering 'dynamic complexity', the key to managing change
Article Abstract:
Technological advances, fluctuations in foreign exchange rates and alterations in foreign markets occur with such rapidity that executives face change as a constant problem, especially when these executives are managing high-technology and international business enterprises. Change management is an essential skill for success. To manage change effectively, executives must acquire expertise in ten areas: (1) allowing decisions to evolve smoothly, (2) recognizing and acting upon business opportunities without hesitation, (3) developing a resilience with respect to change and continuity, (4) becoming capable of changing one's management stance without disrupting the business, (5) exhibiting drive, or the determination to get things accomplished, (6) adapting behavior patterns to fit situational needs, (7) displaying subtlety of approach in dealing with the needs of others, (8) accepting chaotic situations and reacting to remedy such chaos, (9) developing strength and humility when making changes, and (10) maintaining certain ethical values in all situations.

How thinking on your feet brings big benefits
Article Abstract:
Business Links is sponsoring The Winners in Growth Support (WINGS) pilot scheme which is targeting small companies with an eye on the global market. The programme follows research into the needs of high-potential companies with forecast turnovers of more than 250,000 pounds sterling in their first year. The research showed that advice is the most important requirement to growth, and this can be provided by a mentor, who receives a fee of 6,000 pounds sterling in the first year, increasing to 10,000 pounds sterling in the third year, with a potential bonus if certain targets are met.
