Pilsner Urquell plans investments
Article Abstract:
Plzensky Prazdroj Group (PPG) (Czech Republic), Pilsner Urquell brewing group, plans investments of CEK 1.2 bil for the fiscal year from Apr 2001 to Mar 2002. The finances are intended for the modernization of the production and distribution of beer. The aim of the investments is an increase in PPG's capacity and the ensuring of conditions for the growth of the group's exports. PPG, which is owned by the brewing group South African Breweries (South Africa), was set up as a merger of Plzensky Prazdroj (Plzen, Czech Republic), Pivovar Radegast (Nosovice, Czech Republic) and Pivovar Velke Popovice (Velke Popovice, Czech Republic) in 2000.

A new joint venture of Japanese firms will be built in Slany
Article Abstract:
Mitsubishi Electric (ME) (Japan) and Koyo Seiko (KS) (Japan), electrical engineering firms, will build a new CEK 1 bil plant in Slany, Czech Republic, by 2002. The plant should start the production of control units for the automotive industry in the autumn of 2002. In 2001 ME and KS set up a joint venture named Electric Powersteering for the purpose in Slany.
