McElwain bats for new DTC ad rules

LBJ FRB Communications Inc, a Toronto, Canada-based agency, named Mark McElwain as vice-president of the direct-to-consumer health promotion. McElwain, a former commissioner of the Pharmaceutical Advertising Advisory Board (PAAB), will manage the agency's efforts in pursuing direct-to- consumer advertising by pharmaceutical marketers. He was credited for helping ensure accuracy and balance in marketing prescription drugs to health professionals during his stint as PAAB commissioner.

Managing the Mosaic jigsaw

Marketing firm Mosaic Group of Toronto, Ontario, is expecting a revenue of C$400 million in 1999, up from $255 million in 1998. The company, which is projecting a C$500 million revenue in 2000, attributed the growth to its several acquisitions and new business. Mosaic has some 20 marketing units in Europe and Canada that specialize in below-the-line services ranging from direct and digital marketing to promotions and events.
