McKesson will buy Novartis' Red Line

McKesson Corp. will acquire the Minnesota-based unit of Novartis AG, Red Line HealthCare Corp., for $230 million. Under the purchase agreement reached by the firms, Red Line will be consolidated with McKesson's long-term care business in a unit of McKesson General Medical. However, even with the purchase, Red Line's headquarters will continue to remain in Golden Valley, MN. The purchase, which expands McKesson's business into the distribution of medical supplies and services to extended-care facilities, will be subject to regulatory approvals.

Delancey Estates makes hostile bid for Greycoat
Article Abstract:
Delancey Estates PLC has begun a 218 million pound sterling ($354.9 million) hostile takeover offer for Greycoat PLC. Greycoat is a property company based in London. Delancey is offering to acquire all of Greycoat's shares. However, Greycoat rejected the bid. Greycoat is planning to auction the group after its results for the 1998 year is announced in March 1999.
