What's Europe up to?
Article Abstract:
The European market experienced a tumultuous 1999, beginning with the launching of the euro curency and the creation of the single, market euro- zone. Officials of the EU executive body, the EC, were subsequently forced to resign because of allegations of corruption. Then the European Central Bank raised interest rates significantly late in Nov 1999. The impact of these events on Europe continue to be significant with regard to its economy, workforce and society.

Sourcing over the Internet
Article Abstract:
Companies sourcing outside their borders for products and materials have gone global through the Internet. To ensure success in such undertaking, however, a company should consider several issues. Factors to be taken into consideration include the responsibility for quality, letters of credit, shipping terms and conditions, duty payments, customs handling and warehousing, knowing the suppliers' identities, duties, taxes and quotas and logistics and transportation costs.

Mediterranean seaports in ship shape
Article Abstract:
Mediterranean seaports have improved their services and are in the position to take advantage of the booming trade in the region. Some, such as Gioia Tauro in Italy are positioning themselves as alternative gateways to Europe, competing with Rotterdam and Le Havre. Ports such as the Port of Barcelona improved their competitiveness by improving cargo security and implementing guaranteed turnaround times.
