Microsoft, EU reach a compromise

European regulators have reached a compromise with Microsoft Corp. with regards to the antitrust litigation in Europe. The European Union will not fine Microsoft Corp. $5 million per day and did not toughen its orders regarding Windows Media Player software. Microsoft Corp. is to offer better flexibility in licensing terms on programming information and admitted that only some software is innovative enough to require royalty payments.

EU seeks big daily fines for Microsoft
Article Abstract:
Microsoft Corp. has failed to comply with European antitrust regulators and has been levied fines of approximately 2 million Euros ($2.4 million) per day. The software giant has been evading providing information to open the market to competitors. This is the first time European Union regulators have laid fines for lack of compliance.
