Microsoft loss in Europe raises American fears

The Court of First Instance has supported the European Commission's finding in 2004 that Microsoft Corp. had violated antitrust laws. Microsoft withheld information rivals needed in order to make their computers compatible with Microsoft products, and also improperly bundled into Windows a media player. Penalties and fines for Microsoft could total $2.77 bil.

Microsoft yields in EU antitrust battle
Article Abstract:
Microsoft Corp. will not appeal a ruling by a European Union court requiring the software company to adhere to antitrust regulations with regard to bundling features and products. The ruling also requires Microsoft to provide competitors with information needed to allow their software to perform with certain versions of Microsoft Windows.
