Misplaced panics
Article Abstract:
Many middle-class workers in both the US and the UK fear that technology will displace them. Although computers and other information technologies will eliminate some jobs,they will also create new ones. Poor, untrained workers have more to fear than educated ones.

The computer industry in Russia, known as the 'red assemblymen,' controls some two-thirds of the market in that country. Those in the Russian industry have proven to be fiercely competitive against foreign products from western as well as Asian countries.

Jeremy Rifkin, author of 'The End of Work' postulates that the use of computers and information technology will cause massive unemployment worldwide. Although,technology is responsible for the loss of jobs, it also creates new demands and markets.
