Missile design row sparks a falling out between companies
Article Abstract:
Thomson-CSF is seeking monetary compensation from Lockheed Martin for a defective design in its VT1 surface-to-air missile. The VT1, which was designed and manufactured by LM Vought Systems, apparently failed in a series of test firings, particularly those conducted by the Finnish armed forces. The missile, with which the Thomson-CSF Airsys Crotale NG system is currently equipped, now reportedly is firing successfully after a venturis was fitted to the rocket motor. However, Lockheed Martin's refusal to pay for the changes prompted Thomson-CSF to take legal action.
