Mixing up South Africa: the lessons from America for desegregating South Africa's schools
Article Abstract:
School integration in South Africa is not quite the same as in the US. Africans born in the US are a 17% minority but in South Africa, they are 75% of the population. Problems confronting the government, the nation and South African parents if all children are to be well-educated, are presented.

Public school administration in New York City is being suffocated by layers of bureaucracy. While the city spends more per student than almost any other US district, a far greater percentage of the money goes to administrative costs instead of the classroom.
