Loss narrowed at Orange PLC in the first half
Article Abstract:
Orange PLC posted a 17.1 million pound sterling (25.9 million euros) loss for the first-half of 1999. The UK-based mobile telephone operator's loss was "narrower-than-expected." During the same period in 1998, Orange posted a 49.3 million pound sterling loss. The company restated its 1998 results in order to reflect accounting standard changes. Orange was expected to post 27.7 million pounds to 40 million pounds in losses for the period.

Omnitel appoints new board members
Article Abstract:
Omnitel Pronto Italia SpA announced that it has appointed several new members to its board of directors. Omnitel is replacing previous board members from Olivetti SpA. Olivetti recently sold Mannesmann AG its share in Omnitel. Mannesmann Chairman Klaus Esser is one of the new board members. Mannesmann executive Lars Berg and Infostrada's Riccardo Ruggiero, along with Bell Atlantic Mobile's Ted Hoffman, were the other appointees.
