Molecular origami
Article Abstract:
Biologists carrying out research into protein structure face a difficult task. Protein structures are determined through experiments. Crystals are formed by some proteins and their shapes can be investigated using magnetic-resonance imaging or crystallography, but this takes time and cannot be carried out for all proteins. Advances in the field include ab initio software, comparative modelling, and fold recognition. Critical Assessment of Methods of Protein Structure Prediction is a biennial event organized by University of Maryland's John Moult to bring together biologists to predict protein structures.
