Molson taps Brazilian market

Molson Inc has signed an agreement to purchase Bavaria, a leading Brazilian beer brand, owned by Companhia de Bebidas das Americas. The acquisition, valued at $98 million, gives the Canada-based Molson the Bavaria brand, which has a 3.7% market share in Brazil, and five breweries. The deal is part of the Canadian company's growth strategy and followed other international moves, including Molson's partnership with US-based Coors Brewing and purchase of Miller Brewing's beer business.
