More declines in chip sales
Article Abstract:
Semiconductor manufacturer United Microelectronics Corp. is expecting a 35% decline in sales for the second quarter, and isn't forecasting any improvement in the third quarter due to oversupply and slow economic conditions in the region. The demand for personal computers and mobile telephones is sluggish, resulting in decreased costs for memory chips. Several other semiconductor companies are trimming their forecasts.
