The British retailing industry is expected to experience a boom as sales continues on an upward trend. Retail stores in Britain are poorly planned, and thus some areas are oversaturated while some areas are short of retails stores. The biggest stumbling block to the growth of the retail industry is the difficulty of acquiring space for expansion efforts but automation and efficiency drives have resulted in capacity increases for some retailers.

Article Abstract:
The Japanese retail system has always been very difficult for foreign firms to penetrate. The system has been liberalized somewhat by a new breed of Japanese discounters, like Bic Camera, who are thriving despite an overall retail slump.
