Much ado
Article Abstract:
Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum leaders have promised to put forward action plans for the removal of trade barriers by 2010 or 2020 at the summit to be held on Nov 25, 1996, in the Philippines. However, there are indications that this will not happen, with APEC leaders being increasingly unwilling to make firm commitments. It is clear that APEC will lose a substantial amount of credibility if it does not establish ambitious action plans. Indeed, some observers already regard APEC as mainly a forum for vague discussion.

The borders of competition
Article Abstract:
National competition policies have acquired greater international significance as foreign direct investment and trade have increased. Antitrust law has become a difficult trade issue, and national regulators have increasingly come into conflict. There are limitations to bilateral greements, and there is a case for multilateral arrangements to tackle the problem. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and World Trade Organization are discussing the issue.
