Multi-disciplinary courses for construction professionals recommended in CIC report
Article Abstract:
The Construction Industry Council (CIC) is pressing for the promotion of multi-disciplinary courses for construction professionals. Its report, 'Crossing Boundaries' criticises the widening gap between the artistic culture of architecture and the technological concerns of engineering. Courses that encompas both design and technology should be encouraged by professional institutions and established by universities and colleges, aided by the CIC. Common training will increase communication between professions and improve mutual understanding.

DoE civil servant replaces Arcuk EC representative in tussle over future of architectural education
Article Abstract:
Professor Denys Hinton, who has represented Arcuk on the European Community Advisory Committee on architectural education since 1985, has been replaced by civil servant, Jamie Reynolds. Hinton's replacement has been condemned by the Arcuk council although the move had been recommended by the finance and general purposes committee. The council believes the move is part of the Department of the Environment's plan to prevent European architecture courses being lengthened from the present four to five plus two years.
