Multicriterion decision making in river basin planning and development
Article Abstract:
A case study of the Chaliyar river basin in Kerala, India, was conducted to examine its best reservoir configuration. The complexity of the river basin planning and development was due to the presence of eight alternative reservoir configurations which necessitated the use of five Multicriterion Decision Making techniques, namely, Analytic Hierarchy Process, Compromise Programming, ELECTRE-2, PROMETHEE-2 and EXPROM-2. Results indicate that Compromise Programming was the best approach for the investigation of the Chaliyar river basin.

Multicriterion decision making in performance evaluation of an irrigation system
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the selection of the best choice in irrigation development system strategies based on a multi-objective framework using the Multi Attribute Utility Theory and a stochastic extension of PROMETHEE-2. The Analytic Hierarchy Process was utilized to determine weights of the criteria while a matrix of experiments were carried out to study the effects of various factors on the irrigation system. Group consensus was then determined using two types of aggregation of preference techniques.
