In the European Union some in vitro fertilization clinics are implanting more than the recommended three embryos at a time, increasing health risks for both mothers and babies. Reasons include patient demand and competition by the clinics to achieve the highest success rates. Physicians who break the European Union health law can lose their licenses, be fined or incarcerated.

EU drug agency keeps Bextra on list of suspended medicine
Article Abstract:
The European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products is supporting the continued suspension of Bextra produced by the pharmaceutical manufacturer Pfizer Inc. The European drug agency also indicated that new side effect warnings and contraindications should be issued for other COX-2 inhibitors sold in the European Union.

Gazprom faces asset sale under EU's energy plan

Russia's OAO Gazprom will need to sell off its distribution assets within the Eastern European region under the European Union's proposed plan to reorganize the energy industry. In order to increase competition, the proposal will require energy firms to separate production and distribution businesses.
