NAGARJUNA MAY ACQUIRE MAHADESHWARA SUGAR
Article Abstract:
The Nagarjuna group of Hyderabad has expressed interest in acquiring Sri Mahadeshwara Sugar Mills (SMS) of Chamarajnagar, Kollegal. It is likely to complete the proposed acquisition within a month or two. SMS belongs to the Khodays group of Bangalore and has a crushing capacity of 2,500 tonnes per day (tpd). The reserved cane area of SMS in Kollegal and Yelandur taluks holds a huge potential for the Nagarjuna group, as these taluks produce 2.5 lakh tonnes of sugarcane each year. After the acquisition, SMS will function as a unit under Gayatri Sugar Complex Limited, a Nagarjuna group company. The Nargarjuna group plans to further raise the capacity of SMS to 5,000 tpd.
