Nicholas Piramal India Ltd which is involved in glass and bulk drug business has posted 20 percent rise in net profit to Rs20.9 crore on sales of Rs211.80 crore in the first half of 1998-99. The company has hived off its glass and bulk drug business effective April 1, 1998. Its pharmaceutical business has recorded a net profit of Rs17.4 crore on sales of Rs181 crore in the first half of 1997-98. It has launched new products including Recormen, Accutrend, Amexyl, Syntaris and Orthobid gel and suspension. (gs)
