NTPC DEVELOPS PROCESS TO MAKE ALUM FROM FLY ASH
Article Abstract:
For the first time in the country, National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) has developed a process to produce alum from fly ash of thermal power plants. Till now, the ash was used to manufacture ash bricks, raising the height of ash dikes of power plants and for filling low lying areas among others. NTPC Farakka has decided to set up an alum plant in collaboration with Economic Fly Ash Alum, a company floated by a group of local entrepreneurs. The alum produced in this plant will be supplied to the water treatment plant of NTPC power station. (gsh)
