NTT Mobile's net jumps 70% in year

NTT Mobile Communications Network Inc. announced that its net profits for the latest fiscal year increased by 70% to 204.8 billion yen ($1.66 billion). During the year before, NTT posted 120.63 billion yen in net profits. The company attributed the net profit increase to strong cellular telephone services demand. NTT also reported a 19% in group revenue to 3.118 trillion yen for the year ending on March 31, 1999.

Telecom of New Zealand shares fall as net meets diminished expectations

Telecom Corp. of New Zealand posted a 0.2% increase in its net profits for the year ending on March 31, 1999. The company's net profits rose to NZ$822 million (US$459.8 million). During the year before, Telecom posted NZ$820 million. The company's share value dropped 2.8% at one point. However, they did recover at NZ$8.40. Telecom's net profit results did match what analysts had predicted.

Tele Danmark 1st-half pretax profit seen lackluster

Tele Danmark's pretax profits for the first-half of 1999 is expected to be hurt by strong competition domestically. The company is expected to post a fall in pretax profits to 2.9 billion kroner (390 million euros) for the period. Tele Danmark posted 3.1 billion kroner during the same period in 1998. However, strong foreign operations growth will increase sales by 10%.
