Nicholson urges mergers as the way forward after Egan
Article Abstract:
CIC Chairman Robin Nicholson has suggested that small practices in professions related to the building industry should merge to form associations with a range of competencies. Nicholson's suggestion forms part of a response to Sir John Egan's report, which advocates a radical new approach to construction in the UK. Recommendations in the report, which was launched by Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, include the creation of an integrated approach to building projects, and the replacement of competitive tendering with long-term, performance-related relationships.
