Nike slides into snowboarding

Nike Canada Ltd, headquatered in Thornhill, Ontario, will unveil in fall 1999 four new snowboards, a board bag, a duffel bag, a strap-based binding and flexible linerless boots. Featuring the company's ACG (all conditions gear) acronym and the 'swoosh'logo, the new products will be introduced in Germany, Austria, the US and Canada. Citing Nike's footwear expertise, the firm's considers its linerless boots as its strongest entry into the market, according to the firm's product marketing manager, Andrew Mullen.

Bombardier Inc is introducing a new all-terrain vehicle called Traxter to the Canadian market. The product was launched in test markets in Quebec, Ontario, Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee in Jan 1999. The launch will be supported by Bombardier's fall marketing campaign which will have two key strategies, namely, demonstrating Traxter's reliability and raising brand awareness. However, Bombardier will have to convince users that Traxter's quality is worth its price which is on the high end.
