Nikkei may stay below 19000
Article Abstract:
The Nikkei Stock Average is seen to hit down the 19000 level until the latter part of week March 3-7, 1997, with optimism to reach about 18400. The market will remain uncertain until after the passing of the national budget of Japan on March 5, 1997 since investors are inactive before that. Market investors argue that the average may not reach 19000 unless the government intervenes. The Nikkei average went down by 464.56 point on Feb 28, 1997 to close at 18557. Other stock exchange indexes in Asia are also discussed.

Korean share prices elicit caution of buying euphoria
Article Abstract:
South Korean investors are returning to the stock market but investment advisers warn their clients to be selective of their local purchases as upswings could end abruptly. There is a liquid environment in the South Korean market and analysts maintain that this is due to the reduced lending by banking institutions. The yen is also rising and pulling the South Korean economy with it but analysts are skeptical of how much the rise will affect the local market.

Bullish run in Asia could continue at least three years
Article Abstract:
A study of the Asian stock markets by fund manager Mark Mobius suggests that the Asian bull market is likely to continue for at least three years. The study, which covered the period from 1969 to Jul 1998, revealed that the average Asian bull market, excluding Japan, lasted about four years. Some financial analysts are not so optimistic and anticipate a decline in the market mainly because of Japan's poor economy.
