Hopewell Holdings Ltd's recent signing of a $1.4 billion contract to build the second phase of the Pearl River delta superhighway in China is an indication of the Chinese government's continued confidence in the company, despite doubts raised by some sectors that the construction of the first phase of the superhighway is way behind schedule. The company also signed a contract to build city roads for the Canton municipal government.

Hopewell Holdings Ltd Managing Director Gordon Wu recently signed a power station contract with the Guangdong provincial government in China. The contract stipulates the expansion of the generating capacity of the Shajiao power plant from 1,336 megawatts to 2,004 megawatts. Hopewell Holdings Ltd has a 40% stake in the project while its Chinese partner Guangdong General Power has a 60% stake.
