Norway evaluates Eurofighter Typhoon
Article Abstract:
The Royal Norwegian Air Force has shortlisted the Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed Martin's F-16 C/D Block 50N fighter aircraft for a possible 30-aircraft order. The fighter aircraft to be chosen will be primarily used for air defense and air-to-surface missions. The air force has already completed preliminary evaluation of the Eurofighter prototype DA5 while waiting for the production of F-16 C/D Block 50N prototype, which will have improved avionics over the standard Block 50.

RAAF receives first modified F/A-18A/Bs
Article Abstract:
Boeing-McDonnell Aircraft and Missiles was able to deliver the first of 71 F/A-18A/B Hornets being upgraded under Phase 1 of Project Air 5376 to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). The project, valued at $700 million and scheduled to be completed by late 2001, involves the upgrade of all 71 F/A-18A/B Hornets in RAAF service to extend the aircrafts' effectiveness. After Phase 1, the company will start Phase 2 upgrade work, which costs one billion Australian dollars.

LMTAS targets Falcon STAR at F-16 service life demands
Article Abstract:
Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems is negotiating with the US Air Force for another round of F-16 structural improvement project to ensure the fleet's endurance throughout their expected 8,000-hr service life. Slated to start by 2002, the program would require the Falcon Structural Augmentation Roadmap, which will be custom-made to the missions and the type of F-16 configuration.
