Norway's Storebrand to acquire SPP unit from Handelsbanken

Sweden's Svenska Handelsbanken AB will sell its pensions and life-insurance business, SPP, to Norway's Storebrand ASA insurance firm in a deal valued at $2.61 bil. The sale will create the Nordic region's top pensions and life-insurance company with a pro forma 2006 premium income of about $4.63 bil.
