Norwegian gas to the Czech Republic
Article Abstract:
Transgas (Prague, Czech Republic), natural gas transporter, expects the share of the consumption of Norwegian natural gas in the total Czech natural gas consumption to increase to about 25%. The Czech Republic imported 1.45 bil cu mt of natural gas from Norway in 1999, 15% of the total Czech natural gas consumption. Transgas arranged a 20-year contract on the imports of natural gas from Norway with the consortium GFU (Norway), which has a 65% stake held by Statoil (Norway), in 1997. The contract regards the imports of 58 cu mt of gas worth about 6 bil EUR. About 4% of the contract's supplies were realised till the end of 1999. Gas from Norway is transported to the Czech Republic through Germany. The dominant supplier of gas to the Czech Republic remains Gazexport (Russia). Transgas arranged a 15-year contract with Gazexport in 1998.

Viscofan CZ to build new plant
Article Abstract:
Viscofan CZ (Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic), manufacturer of artificial skins for food products, will build a new plant by 2003. The plant will cost CEK 385 mil, CEK 210 mil of which will be invested in new technologies. It will be located in Ceske Budejovice and will produce plastic and cellulose skins. By 2003 Viscofan CZ is to set up 116 new jobs. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Viscofan (Spain).
