Nova hut (NH) (Ostrava, Czech Republic), steel firm, saw a loss of CEK 644 mil in 2000. The firm's total payables are CEK 20 bil including bank credits of CEK 14 bil and payables of CEK 6 bil towards creditors from business contacts. NH has unredeemed loans of USD 250 mil from IFC including debts. IFC has a mortgage on NH's constant assets on this level. NH has 12,700 employees. The firm has a 49% stake held by the National Property Fund of the Czech Republic and a 18.25% stake by Credit Suisse First Boston.

Carborundum Electrite increases proceeds
Article Abstract:
Carborundum Electrite (CE) (Benatky nad Jizerou, Czech Republic), engineering firm, increased its proceeds by 8% to CEK 570 mil in 2000 compared to 1999. The firm saw a non-audited profit of CEK 40 mil in 2000 compared to a loss of more than CEK 300 mil in 1999. Its growth was supported mainly by exports. The growth of CE's indices was also influenced by the firm's restructuring after the entrance of Central Europe Abrasive in Sep 1999.
