NH2 UPGRADATION MAY GET WORLD BANK FUNDS
Article Abstract:
The upgradation of the National Highway-2 (NH2) running between Delhi and Calcutta is likely to get funds from the World Bank. The estimated cost of laying 4 lanes in the NH2 is $1.2 billion. The 4-laning of the NH2, covering 1,350 km, is split into 5 packages. An expressway between Agra and Kanpur is proposed in the upgradation project. The project report will be ready by September 1999. The feasibility study has been funded by the World Bank. (rk/kvr)

FOODS, BEVERAGES GET HEALTHY DIET
Article Abstract:
The government has decided to treat the food processing industry as a priority sector for bank lending, treating cold storage infrastructure and providing capital subsidy for it. It plans to introduce a credit-linked capital subsidy scheme to create 12 lakh tonnes of additional cold storage facilities. The industry is a bit disappointed that a distinction has not been made between mass and non-mass products for the purpose of excise. (khr)
