OSWAL CHEMICALS & FERTILISERS
Article Abstract:
The fertiliser division of Oswal Chemicals & Fertilisers has fared well in 1997-98. Two factors have contributed to the better performance. One is the nine percent growth in fertiliser sales and the other is the better productivity of the urea plant at Shajahanpur. The plant operated at 128 percent capacity utilisation at a production level of 930,000 tonnes. This resulted in a 20 percent increase in growth in profit to Rs287.78 crore. While producing nitrogenous fertilisers, Oswal is diversifying into phosphatic fertiliser. It is setting up a 1.92 million tonnes per annum (tap) phosphatic fertiliser complex at an investment of Rs475 crore. The complex will produce diammonium phosphate (DAP), phosphoric acid and sulphuric acid.
