Objective One: a growth opportunity for SMEs
Article Abstract:
Objective One, a programme created by the European Commission to form a single market without borders in 1993, aims to offer aid and support to close the gap between the richest and poorest areas of the European Union. In the UK, it will particularly benefit the Merseyside region, which was identified as one of the poorest regions in Europe. Small and medium-sized companies in the region will receive 630 million pounds sterling under Objective One in the period 1994-1999.

Sweden search for intelligent capital
Article Abstract:
The full potential of companies with extraordinary potential in the technology sector in Sweden is not being exploited because they are not receiving intelligent capital in the early phases of their development. Such companies have only limited opportunities to obtain bank funding, and they are therefore obliged to seek funding from one of Sweden's many emerging public markets. However, an IPO does not offer intelligent capital.
