Offerings of UPC, Equant shares elicit demand

United Pan-Europe Communications NV (UPC) saw its share value increase by 26% on their first trading day in Amsterdam. The share value increase occurred after the company concluded a 1.16 billion euro ($1.30 billion) offering. Equant NV's shares also rose in value in Paris as bankers concluded a $3.6 billion secondary offering. UPC's share rose to 41 euros per share on its first trade, and then fell back to 36.55 euros. Equant's shares were valued at $74 per share.
