Online bookstores are discounting sales
Article Abstract:
Online bookstores in Europe, most of them hampered by local laws that restrict the trade of books, have resorted to offering various enticements to clients to make them order books through the Internet. Among the additional services discussed during the 1998 Frankfurter Book Fair are next-day deliveries, local-language help desks and gift certificates. New entrants into the European book markets such as Amazon.com, one of the most successful online booksellers in the US that recently began operations in Germany and the UK, are slowly adapting to the intricacies of the market.
